For over 14 years, he worked as a public defender attorney in Newark, Elizabeth, and Linden, NJ, advocating for social justice for his clients and obtaining favorable outcomes for them.

Nuno has been practicing personal injury and accident law since 2004. But, for the time being, he is only practicing personal injury so he can better serve his clients. Jubilo L. Afonso is a partner at Afonso & Afonso, LLC. Jubilo knew at a young age that he wanted to make a difference in other people’s lives. Born into an immigrant family in the city of Elizabeth, New Jersey, Jubilo was keenly aware of the struggles of the most vulnerable sectors in our community, as well as their lack of representation in terms of asserting their rights.

As a seasoned lawyer, he guides his clients during their most trying times by providing them with compassionate and humanitarian representation. For over a decade, he has represented thousands of clients in a wide range of personal injury cases throughout the state of New Jersey.

Long before becoming a personal injury attorney, Jubilo had involved himself in various philanthropic efforts to better his community. He has been a long-time member of the Portuguese Instructive Social Club, where he served as President of the Board of Directors in 2008 and 2009. He is still active with administering the organization being the President of the General Assembly and has been honored as a Benemeritus Member. Jubilo attends Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Elizabeth City and is involved in various nonprofit and philanthropic organizations, including the Elizabeth Portuguese Lions Club, the Elizabeth Portugal Day Committee, and the AC Scholarship Fund.

Graduating with Honors from Seton Hall University and also Seton Hall Law School, Jubilo uses his education and experience to not only represent his clients but also to win their cases. After passing the bar in 2009, Jubilo formed a partnership with his brother, Nuno Afonso, to establish a personal injury law firm in his hometown, Elizabeth, New Jersey. Since becoming a lawyer, Jubilo has served as a Public Defender in Elizabeth and a Municipal Prosecutor in Plainfield, New Jersey.

Together with his wife and four children, Jubilo presently lives in Elizabeth, NJ, the city he grew up in. Apart from paying homage to the place where he was raised, Jubilo also chose to practice his profession in the city of Elizabeth because of his deep passion for serving his local townspeople. Jubilo is a proud husband to his wife Michelle and their four children, each of whom works in their own way to better themselves and their community.
